Brand strategy, naming and design · Auckland & Wellington

A branding agency that starts with evidence, not a mood board.

For New Zealand businesses that have outgrown the brand they built. We research first, decide second and design last, so the result holds up in the market and in the boardroom.

Most brands do not fail. They quietly stop keeping up.

The market moves, the business adds services, the team grows, and the brand stays frozen at the moment it was made. Slowly you become harder to notice, harder to understand and harder to choose. Here is what that usually looks like from the inside.

Ask five people what you do. You will get five answers.

All of them true. None of them the same. Your market is hearing all five, and picking whichever one is easiest to file you under.

Premium service. Budget signals.

Nobody judges your price in isolation. They weigh it against the website, the proposal, the language, how fast you reply. When the signals say budget, the buyer resolves the mismatch in the cheaper direction.

Would the proposal still win without you in the room?

If the value only lands when your best person explains it, the brand is not doing enough of the work. That gap gets closed manually, meeting by meeting, until someone closes it with a discount.

How we work

Evidence creates confidence. Opinion creates compromise.

People assume a brand project starts with sketching logos. Ours starts with a wall. Customer interviews, stakeholder input, competitor analysis, the strategy pinned up where the whole team can argue with it.

Only once we know what the brand has to achieve do we start designing. The creativity is not the first move. It is the reward for doing the thinking first.

We are brand specialists, not a design company doing branding.
  1. Research

Customer, staff and stakeholder interviews. Competitor and category analysis. The things your customers will tell a neutral third party but never say to your face.

  2. Strategy

Position, proposition and story. What you do, how you do it differently, and why it matters. Agreed before anything visual exists.

  3. Naming

Only when the name is genuinely holding you back. Tested, checked and defensible, not chosen by committee.

  4. Design

Identity, system and guidelines built to carry the strategy, not to win an internal vote on a logo.

  5. Roll-out

Web, marketing, signage, environments and the internal launch. The part most rebrands underestimate and then never recover from.

What it looks like when it works.

Three client outcomes, each traced to a named source, not a case study we wrote about ourselves.

300% Real Meals Sales growth in twelve months after repositioning, renaming and rebuilding the pack around what buyers actually valued: taste.
1,200 Proactive, up from 620 Patients a day nationally, after repositioning from a physio clinic to a national rehabilitation brand. Gold at the Asia Pacific Transform Awards.
650% ChargeNet Rise in social engagement year on year following the brand relaunch, alongside more enquiries, more traffic and longer sessions.

In their words.

We now have business clarity; we have a cool name; we have a culture to attract the best people and we have a story that resonates with every client I’ve spoken to. It’s the platform for success for our young business.
Mark KeeganManaging Director, SEQA
The ZeroJet name has been a huge benefit for our company. People just ‘get it’ when we tell them our name. Zero fumes, zero noise, zero emissions. We don’t have to say this to customers, they already get it.
Bex RempelDirector, ZeroJet
The changes Re:brand made put the whole business in a much more aligned way, so it actually works for what we are trying to do.
Cameron LawesDirector, Real Meals

Straight answers.

What does a rebrand actually cost?
It depends on how much of the brand is in play. A focused strategy and identity programme for a mid-sized New Zealand business typically starts around $15,000. Full programmes with research, naming, identity and roll-out across a larger organisation run to $75,000 and beyond. We scope and fix the price before anything starts, so there are no surprises in the middle of it.
Do we need a full rebrand, or just a refresh?
Often a refresh. The question is not “do we need a new logo”, it is “will this brand still make sense in three years”. Sometimes the honest answer is that the identity is fine and the problem is the story. We will tell you that, even though it is the smaller job.
How long does it take?
A strategy and identity programme usually runs three to five months end to end, depending on how quickly research access and internal decisions can happen. Roll-out continues beyond that and we plan it with you rather than handing over a PDF and disappearing.
We are not in Auckland or Wellington. Does that matter?
No. We have studios in Ponsonby and central Wellington and we work with clients throughout New Zealand and across the Tasman. Research and workshops run in person where it counts and remotely where it does not.
Who is this not for?
If you have already written the brief, decided the answer and want a logo drawn to it, we are the wrong agency and we will say so early. The same goes if the brand is genuinely fine and the real problem is sales capacity or product. We would rather lose the job than take on work that cannot succeed.
What happens after we send the form?
A director reads it and replies within one working day. If there is something to talk about we book thirty minutes to pressure-test the situation. If it is a fit after that, you get a scoped proposal with a fixed price and a timeline. No retainer, no obligation, no follow-up sequence.

Where is your brand helping you, and where is it creating friction?

That is the whole question. Send us the short version and we will give you a straight read on it, including whether you need us at all.

Send it through

Same form, same promise. One working day, from a director.
