Allevia is the new brand identity for New Zealand’s largest private healthcare group, formerly known through the long-standing ‘Mercy’ name. With the Sisters of Mercy now passing on the baton, the organisation took the opportunity to look forward while honouring its past.

The challenge was clear: unite seven specialist services under a single, culturally aware brand that reflected both clinical excellence and human care. The result is Allevia – a brand with clarity, warmth, and deep resonance. Built from the idea of ‘alleviating’ patient concerns, the new identity reflects a commitment to simplicity, unity, and better health outcomes.

Allevia now spans radiology, hospitals, and specialist services. The visual identity breaks with sterile healthcare norms, instead embracing local symbolism, inclusive language, and a flexible, future-proof system that supports growth and cohesion across all services.
